J.T. affirms that he and Colleen are only friends then wishes Mac well at college. Colleen obtains tickets for a popular concert, planning to invite J.T. Jill arrives and Colleen lies, telling her that she's going out with Caitlin. Colleen is thrilled when J.T. gives up his other plans to attend the concert with her. Jill runs into Caitlin, who reluctantly reveals that Colleen is out with J.T. As J.T. and Colleen walk in the park after the concert looking for shooting stars and having a serious talk, Jill confronts Colleen for disobeying her grandfather's wishes.

Week of 10/14/02: In an attempt to avoid punishment, Colleen admits to John that she went to the concert with J.T. J.T. is surprised that Jill believes him when he says his relationship with Colleen is innocent. John plans to ground Colleen, but Jill warns it may only backfire. JT Likes Colleen
Week of 11/4/02: After talking with John, Brad tries to reach out to Colleen, who's become withdrawn. She defends her friendship with J.T. Home from college, Mac talks to J.T. about Colleen and senses he still cares for her, but encourages J.T. to go out on a date. He decides Mac is right, and "works his magic" on Brianne. John allows Colleen to join Mac at the coffeehouse. There, Colleen's crushed to see J.T. with Brianne. Colleen leaves and goes to the park alone, sitting in the rain and crying. J.T. sees her leave and comes after her. At the park, J.T. reassures Colleen that he wasn't "seeing" Brianne. Colleen wants to be with J.T. and says she loves him. They share a kiss. Mac tells Brittany that she's certain Colleen is moving on from J.T. John arrives looking for Colleen, when Traci calls, insisting Colleen return to New York. Colleen bolts when John says her mother wants her on the next plane to New York. Colleen summons J.T. to the park and suggests they run away together. J.T. persuades Colleen not to run away then arranges for her to stay with Raul and Brittany on a temporary basis at their boarding house room, saying that he'll talk to John. Brad is distressed to learn from John that Colleen's situation has further deteriorated.

Week of 11/18/02: Colleen calls J.T. to meet her in the park, and tells him that Brittany's mom knows that she's staying with Raul and Brittany. J.T. tells her she should go home, but she refuses. Colleen and J.T. talk, cuddle, and kiss in the park. J.T. tells Colleen, his Blue Eyes, that she really messes with his head. Sometimes he wants to protect her, like a kid sister, but then.....they are interrupted when the police come to arrest J.T. for statutory rape while Colleen escapes. J.T. tells the police where Colleen is hiding, thinking it's best for the both of them.

It's Over (For Now)
Week of 12/2/02: Traci tells J.T. she'll drop the statutory rape charges if he convinces Colleen to return to New York. Laying a guilt trip on him, she tells him that Colleen's in juvie hall and that if he really cares about what's best for Colleen, he'll tell her she should return to New York. J.T. borrows Billy's ID from Mac to visit Colleen at the juvenile detention center. He tells Mac that he has to break it off with Colleen. Mac reminds him that he's tried this before, and it didn't work then. Mac tells JT that he doesn't want to be apart from Colleen anymore than Colleen wants to be apart from him. J.T. tells Colleen it's over between them so that she will return to New York with Traci. Colleen doesn't believe him and thinks that Traci threatened him, but JT avoids answering and just keeps repeating that it can't work out and that Colleen should go back to New York. Colleen desperately tries to tell him they have to be together, but JT, turning away and looking suspiciously like he's about to cry, sticks to his guns. Colleen tells him that they're in love, but JT reminds her that he's never said that to her. Colleen says it doesn't matter, that she still knows how he feels, but JT bluntly tells her that it's over between them. Colleen says she doesn't believe him, but he starts telling her that she was just an ego trip and that he's going to a sorority party right after this. He tells her to call her mom and go to New York, then leaves. Later, Colleen calls her mom and, in a monotone, says she'll go to New York with Traci. JT, meanwhile, goes to the coffeehouse and runs into Brittany. She starts to talk about Colleen, but JT tells her to shut up and Brittany notices that he's really upset. She asks if he wants to talk, but he says no, and has to swallow tears many times. Brittany is shocked to see that JT had real feelings for Colleen, and again asks if he wants to talk, but JT says he'll be fine.

Week of 12/9/02: Brittany runs into J.T. and sees that he's still upset over Colleen. Brittany advises J.T. to tell Colleen his true feelings for her. Despite Brad's protests, Traci takes Colleen to the airport. Traci goes up to the desk to complain about their seats, leaving Colleen by herself. J.T. enters the airport, scanning the crowd for Colleen, and Colleen sees him.
JT and Colleen.....Trying to be Together
Week of 12/16/02: JT comes up to Colleen and Colleen throws herself into his arms. He tells her he doesn't want her to go to New York, and she says she doesn't want to go either. Colleen and J.T. leave the airport without Traci's knowledge, and show up on Brad and Ashley's doorstep. Brad makes both of them come inside, but is furious when he learns that JT brought Colleen here without Traci knowing. J.T. defends Colleen's behavior to Brad while Colleen apologizes to Ashley for her actions. Brad harshly tells JT to leave, but Colleen says that if JT leaves, she leaves. Brad then tells JT not to say another word, because he doesn't want to hear it. Traci calls and Brad tells her Colleen is with him, and Traci soon comes to the Carlton residence. Once there, she tries to drag Colleen into a waiting cab and starts yelling and arguing with Colleen and Brad. Brad and Traci go upstairs, where he asks Traci to allow Colleen to remain in Genoa City with him and Ashley. Traci agrees to let Colleen stay with Brad and Ashley. Brad says that it must be under his rules, and he plans on being strict. Colleen and Traci go to get Colleen's bags from the airport, and Brad tells J.T. he must stay away from Colleen for two weeks, no contact at all. Brad sarcastically asks JT if he can leave Colleen alone, and JT says that he apparently doesn't really have a choice. "You finally get it," Brad replies. JT leaves the Carlton residence and heads for the coffeehouse. Traci and Colleen share a poignant mother/daughter moment as they prepare to say good-bye. At the coffeehouse, J.T. admits to Brittany that he cares for Colleen in a special way.

Week of 12/23/02: It's Colleen's Sweet 16, but per Brad's orders, JT is allowed no contact with Colleen. Colleen gets a call from JT (from Crimson Lights') and Colleen reports the breakfast celebration and tells JT "I wish you could be here. I miss you. I love you." "Have a great birthday," JT says as he hangs up on her mid sentence. When Billy vents about JT, CC interrupts, defending JT. Billy would like to hook up with Raul at the coffee house, and when Colleen wants to tag along, Billy suspects she wants to run into JT. At Crimson Lights, Brit reports the events of her Christmas to JT. JT's distracted - Brit reminds him of the promise he made to Brad. JT just wants to say hello to Colleen and sarcastically thanks Brit for her support. At the counter, Raul gets a call from Billy and is stunned to hear he's home. 'Rowoool' summons Jeffrey Todd. Billy tells JT to be gone by the time he gets there with Colleen. JT doesn't feel like dealing with him anyway. The glum Colleen goes to chat with Cody. Has JT be in? Cody reports he left (but was sitting with Brittany). Colleen makes a beeline for Brit, who tells her that JT just left and was planning to go to a party. 5th wheel Colleen joins the couples (Billy and Mac, Brit and Raul) and is soon blowing out a candle on a muffin and as they sing Happy Birthday to her, JT watches. JT came to Brad and Ashley's house hoping to get Brad's permission to wish Colleen a happy birthday. Brad wasn't there, but Ashley told him that she couldn't permit it. JT had agreed to stay away from Colleen for two weeks to allow Brad to help her settle into her new home. JT told Ashley that everyone had the wrong impression of him. He was not interested in Colleen for sex, and most of the college girls he knew were less mature than Colleen. He simply wanted to give Colleen a gift for her sixteenth birthday. Ashley said he could leave the gift, and she and Brad would discuss it. But JT said it wasn't something he could leave, although he tried to get Ashley to take a birthday card. Ashley refused and went upstairs to check on Abby after JT told her he could let himself out. Billy and Mac talked to Colleen, who was angry that Billy had warned JT to stay away from the coffee shop. She'd merely wanted to see him on her birthday. Billy reminded her that JT had made a promise to Brad and needed to keep it. Besides, JT was not the kind of guy his niece needed to get involved with. Colleen angrily stalked out of the coffeeehouse, and Mac hurriedly told Billy she'd drive Colleen home before running out after Colleen. JT showed up at the coffeehouse, which made Billy, who had told him to stay away, angry. The two exchanged harsh words that escalated into a fight. Cody broke them up just as Mac came back. She reminded them that they weren't kids anymore and needed to stop acting like it. While Billy glared at JT, JT left the coffee shop. Colleen told Ashley how miserable her birthday was because she'd only wanted to see JT. She knew they all expected her to be grateful for being there instead of in boarding school, but thanks to their rules, her birthday was ruined. Ashley urged her to be patient. When Ashley went upstairs, Colleen found the birthday card from JT hidden inside her book. After Ashley left to take Abby to a doctor's appointment, Colleen went outside and read the card. Her misery changed to happiness when JT showed up with a guitar to serenade her on her birthday. He sang "their" song, When You Say Nothing At All (which, if you remember, is the one played during all the JT/Colleen montages). Colleen was touched by his actions and gave him a hug and a kiss. She begged him to stay a little longer, but JT said they shouldn't risk it(because while Ashley and Abby were gone, Brad could be back at any moment). He kissed her goodbye and left.
